We’re sure you’ve seen gold jewellery with a pinkish tint / hue. It was most probably a piece of rose gold or pink gold jewellery. But is there a difference?
Absolutely!
Most rose gold and pink gold is also 18 karat. Rose gold is composed of 75% gold and 25% copper, and pink gold is 75% gold, 21% copper and 4% silver. It’s the high percentage of copper that produces the rose color. Most antique jewellery is rose-gold, as copper alloys were the most common in the 19th century. Rose gold is sometimes known as “Russian gold” as it was popular in Czarist Russia before the revolution. In modern jewellery it mainly crops up in dual-tone gold jewelry.
